1.Introduction
In the last few years many teachers using Computer-assisted Language Learning (CALL) has increased. Although the potential of the Internet for educational use has not been fully explored yet and the average school still makes limited use of computers, it is obvious that we have entered a new information age which is established.
In the early 90’s education started being affected by the introduction of word processors in schools, colleges and universities. This mainly had to do with written assignments. The development of the Internet brought about a revolution in the teachers’ perspective, as the teaching tools offered through the Internet were gradually becoming more reliable. Nowadays, the Internet is popular in foreign language teaching, both educators and learners are embracing it.
2.Objectives
The aim of this paper is to inform both educators and learners how computers are helping them and analyze the advantages of the utilization of computer in language learning. ReplyDeleteThe use of computer in teaching might benefit children who had all the facilities be it at home or at school. But what about children living in Paitan, Pitas for example? or other rural and interior side of Malaysia? These children are deprived of the privilege of having all the great facilities that the urban children has. Never mine about the technologies, even the basic necessities doesnt exist or might not sufficient for them ; electricity, clean water, safe shelter, etc.
My point here is we are talking about the advancement of technologies in our education but we forgot about the underprivileged students who are supposedly receive the equal education as what those children who lives in the city received!
In the end of the day, if we are posted to urban areas then we could apply CALL in our teaching but if we are destined to be posted at the very rural area in the world, then we need to go back to basic: Pen+Paper ;)
